VOLUNTEERS

Won’t you please give your club an hour or two of your time per month?  There are so many things that must be done to keep our club alive and vibrant.  There are a core group of people that are here all the time but, definitely not enough.  Every day is different and, every day there are numerous things to be done.  We, your fellow brothers and sisters, are working diligently to keep our doors open but, it is exhausting.  If we could just get at least a quarter of our membership to donate a little time each month it would make it so much easier and, what better way to get to meet your fellow Eagles?  It can be very enjoyable to meet and work with others.  Yet one more way to promote socializing!! : )

If you are a morning person, just come to the back door (between the kitchen and the Banquet Room) around 9:00 a.m. and you will be able to come in.  Getting ready to open every day can be a real chore – depending on the previous night.   There are floors to be mopped, carpet to be swept; bathrooms to be cleaned and stocked, trash cans to be emptied, etc.  If you are an early afternoon person, we are in desperate need of a day waitress/waiter.  We serve lunch from 11:00am until 2:00pm Monday through Friday.  It is short term daily and can be very satisfying.  If you are an evening person, there are always raffles to be done or clean up in the kitchen, doing dishes, straightening tables and chairs in the Social Room, cleaning all the tables in preparation for the next day.  So many things we can’t name them all but, you get the idea.  We are in desperate need of your help.  Won’t you come join us?

GUEST RULES

We are sure that you are aware of the House Rule that limits a male guest to three visits, at which time he should be presented with an application for membership.  As his sponsor, if he enjoys our facility, our mission and camaraderie, it is your responsibility to invite him to join our membership.            Fraternally, Board of Trustees

 BARTENDERS CORNER

Glad to see everyone who has come to visit us for lunch, dinner, or just an afternoon or evening drink with friends!  We hope to see you soon!!                   Your Eagle Barstaff

Fraternal Order of Eagles Mission Statement

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization, unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.

Today, the Eagles continue to strive to make the world a better place. We are proud, caring "people helping people" who understand that the needs of many will always outweigh the needs of a few.

FOE Trace Roots to 1898

The very first meeting of Maumee Aerie #2562 was conducted upstairs at the old Plantation Inn on River Rd. in Maumee, Ohio.  The Aerie was granted its Charter on November 1, 1946.  The original Aerie was located on Wayne Street in uptown Maumee, across the street from the Maumee Elks.

Our Aerie had grown so much that we had to build a club of our own design.  In the early 80’s we relocated to a brand new facility at 827 Illinois Avenue on the outskirts of Maumee where we maintained a beautiful facility for more than 20 years.

As membership began to decline we were forced to relocate once again.  In December of 2009 we moved to our current location at 2301 Detroit Avenue, Maumee, OH.   We currently enjoy a beautiful facility which we are fortunate enough to be able to share the banquet facilities with the public for receptions, anniversary parties, graduation parties, birthdays, etc.

There was no fanfare when the Fraternal Order of Eagles was founded on February 6, 1898.  The organization was formed by six theater owners sitting on a pile of lumber in Moran's shipyard in Seattle.   Early meetings were held on local theater stages and after taking care of business, attendees rolled out a keg of beer and enjoyed social time.  As numbers grew, participants selected the Bald Eagle as the official emblem and changed the name to "The Fraternal Order of Eagles."  In April 1898, the membership formed a Grand Aerie, secured a charter and developed a constitution.

Auxiliary Trace Roots to 1927

A "new era for the women of Eagledom" was launched when an amendment to the Grand Aerie Laws passed unanimously, establishing a Grand Auxiliary. The event took place during the 1951 Grand Aerie Convention in Rochester, New York, August 8-12.

"It was a great moment in the history of the ladies auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles," said Lester Loble, Past Grand Worthy President.

Actually, Eagles auxiliaries existed long before the Grand Auxiliary was formed, with the first dating back to March 24, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. Three days later, the second auxiliary was instituted in Frontenac, Kansas.

By March, 1951, 965 local auxiliaries were in existence, boasting 130,000 members. By the end of that year, 22 state and provincial auxiliaries were operating.
